Nice - Day 2

The foldable tourist map taught us that there is an old part of town and a city-like, newish kind of area. We decided to check out the old neighbourhood and left our substitute home before noon. The weather didn't let us down and we found our way to the Palais de Justice. A little market had opened where several book stalls offered ancient maps, books on art and witty postcards.

One funny picture book was of interest, but I didn't quite get the story. It was about a fox who stole fish from a fisherman and got his tail cut off. And at the end he found a foxin and they became friends, I think. Sumin and I looked at each other and started walking towards the beach. This time we rented two sun beds and a parasol. Quite a different kind of vacation this was.

The beach closed at six, which I find funny. It doesn't seize to exist. The pebbles keep being pebbles and the sea, well, the sea is there no matter what, but for some reason this part of the world seemed to be for sale. The sun went down and we walked back to the hotel. For dinner we wandered through the narrow alleys until we found a tiny restaurant where we got French food and French wine.
