Home - Day 7

My brother is moving into a new place and today I helped him paint the walls and the ceilings. We brought speakers and tunes and worked for five hours straight. It didn't not feel like work, but it wasn't bad at all. It's different, I guess, if painting walls is your job and you do it in other people's homes. But today was really motivating, and looking back on it, rewarding too.

Rewarding because it made me think a lot, and thinking sometimes is definitely a good thing. The last time I painted the walls of a room was more than two years ago. We did a living room, two bedrooms and a hall. That was fun, too, even though it's not easy to think about it now. It was a nice apartment, second floor in a small block of flats in a quiet street. It was nice, well, it was.

The time before that was in 2006, I think. My first crib in Germany. I had moved out to Bonn for my studies and found this awesome sousterrain spot. It was a well-sized room, a small kitchen and a tiny bathroom. Only one power socket worked, the kitchen had mold in one corner and the bathroom had no window. It had generally no sunlight and the air was damp all the time.

It was a great place though, I loved it. It represented my independence and I put a lot of work in it. Good times. After that I moved to another place between Südstadt and Poppelsdorf, shared a flat with a girl that drove me crazy at last. And crazy not in a good way. But that's in the past as well. What I thought about today a lot was my future. Right now it's London, but what's next?
