Seoul - Day 25

Today I finally met the one and only Ee. We last saw each other close to a year ago, back then we were both in Seoul. In the meantime a million things have happened, the world has changed a lot and we didn't have the chance to meet, because America is still a place far far away. There were plans to meet somewhere in Europe - London in spring or Paris in summer - but it didn't work out and she was the missing link when Gayoung and I went to see P in February.

Now. A few weeks ago she told me she was coming to Seoul and I couldn't believe it. For once we would be on the same continent, in the same country, even the same city at the same time. I knew I would be überbusy the last few days before I left, and I knew she would be busy for she would just have arrived, but we had to meet, no matter what. There was just too much to catch up on, too much to share. And today we finally made it happen.

We met in Shinchon, birthplace of the infamous Shinchon triangle, and of course I was running late. Ee was waiting at Hongik Mungo close to the station and I almost didn't recognize her. Old Eerang, unbelievable. We went to Jun's Grill, a quiet place at the end of Myeongmul Street and ordered beer and a snack. We let the rain inspire our fruitful conversation and everything else didn't matter much. Talking to her was as if it was only last week that we had met. So good to see her again.

Tonight 360 Sounds was presenting a Block Party at Maroni Park in Daehakno. I wanted Ee to come along, but she had to take off early. She took a bus home and I went on by subway. I talked to Seok hyung on the phone to check his whereabouts and after I hung up, the events of the day felt almost unreal. Everything seemed to have happened a long time ago. Before I knew it, I was transferring and soon I arrived at Hyehwa Station where the others were already gathered.

There was a whole crew of friends, already drinking and having fun, when I arrived at the bar that Seok hyung directed me to. It took me a little while to get myself together, but I soon joined in. It was Seok hyung, Kwang and Mai, Pyungwoo, Nayoung, Seongwan, Decho and a few others whose names I don't know for sure. We had another drink and cleared the beer before we left for the park. The action was already on and it should turn into a magical night.
