Hamburg - Day 1

My sleep was interrupted by a lot of rucksack bumps against the resting back of my head, and at some point in the middle of the night a woman tapped me on the shoulder and demanded my getting up and getting another seat. Why, I asked her, I like this one. And she said it was hers, she'd made a reservation. Nothing I could do, so I got up and moved to the first class and got a nice seat there.

The train arrived in the morning. I got off at Hamburg Harburg and called the others. They were on their way as well, just a few more minutes according to the navigation. I got a hot coffee at the Gute Bahnhofsbäckerei to warm up and start the new day, and before my cup was half emtpy the guys arrived to pick me up. Lukas was driving, the others were half asleep. So good to see them.

Next stop was the wakeboard park in Pilleberg. Björn had arranged a rental so that for two hours the whole Anlage was ours. It's a pretty big facility, the lake much larger than the one in Brühl. A couple of other friends joined in on the fun it was amazingly refreshing. The temperature was just right and the water quiet enough to fully enjoy the session. It was super fun and everyone was überexhausted at the end.

Then we went home to grab a massive breakfast. Tobs and the guys drove by a bakery and got two big bags full of goods, one with Körnerbrötchen and one with plain ones. We sat around an extended kitchen table and everyone was busy smearing their breadlets. For some reason they made fun of my Kräuterfrischkäse-Waldfruchtkonfitüre-Schinken-Körnerschnittchen, but I didn't mind. It was delicious and if there would've been some Gurke or Blattsalat I would have put that on there, too.

After a little resting time the guys went to see Hamburg vs. Köln in one of the local football stadiums. They promised immense fun and fantastic Bratwurst, but that wasn't enough to convince me. Instead I took a bus into the city and checked out a coffee shop close to City Hall. The only one that I found with free wifi service was one of those expensive coffee joints, but I did need to check some stuff online, so I went anyway.

In the evening we met at home and enjoyed a well-organized barbeque with pork, chicken, sausages and some veggie cutlets for Lukas from Vienna. We met some more friends and chatted over salads and side dishes, later coffee and cake. At some point though, I got übertired and decided to take a nap. Two hours later Robbi woke me up and asked me if I was coming into the city. I wasn't feeling well, but I knew I would definitely miss out on some major fun. So I said yes, and indeed, it was a crazy fun night.
