Sokcho - Day 2.

The last time I visited Sokcho was with Patrick, Ee, Gayoung, Moran and Samuel; all friends from the Literature Translation Academy. Man, it's been a long time since I've thought about that time. It was around three years ago and we were all in the same long-term course. Sokcho was one of our few trips we took apart from the ones in the curriculum.

This time, Sumin and I had only one night and half a day to make the best of our trip. There was no time to check out the city or to climb Mount Seorak. We decided to focus on relaxing by the ocean. Sokcho is situated in the northeast of Gangwon Province, therefore facing the East Sea. After a delayed arrival at the terminal we found a place to stay and went to the beach.

Today we got up early and went for a walk. Sokcho is definitely worth a visit if a quick escape from the city is what you're looking for. The bus takes a while but is comfortable and stops two hundred meters from the seaside. For lunch we had sweet potato crackers and cold beers, paired with a nice spot by the beach and talks about life, work and freedom. About pursuing the same future together.

  1. Sokcho will always have a special place in my heart, what with Samuel sleeping in the entry way and the lovely guesthouse (apparently it is pretty famous among people who frequent guesthouses.) not to mention it being the beginning of a lovely season in my life.
