This town is a small place with little possibilities regarding pretty much everything. Even an urban essential activity such as meeting and eating out is a problem, which is why we always have to choose from the same two passable places. We in this case means Tobs and I, because everyone else who I would like to go grab a bite with is not around anymore.
The Baguetterie is good for coffee and snacks, it's nearby and tucked in in a quiet corner between Kaufhof and the Wendehammer. It always smells nice and the volume of the radio is dimmed down to a well-ignorable level. Tobs usually goes for one of the baguette sandwiches, preferably the Toulouse, and a coke, while I tend to order a crepe and coffee.
If we're a bit hungrier and down for a real meal we will probably visit Mario. Mario is an Italian bistro with decent pizza and pasta, conveniently situated between Tobs' office and our place, both a five minute walk. It's a small and smokey spot with only a few tables, most of which are facing the flat screen tv that somehow doesn't seem to fit in there.
But no matter where we sit and talk, no matter what we eat and drink, it's always something to look forward to. We're both not too fond of this town, but we both keep coming back. And there are a few more candidates who fall into the exact same category. K is definitely in there, and Simon as well. We all grew up in this town, and grew sick of it too.
