Fahrenheit 451

This book is probably one of my favourite books ever. I've read it two or three times before, and I'm probably going to keep rereading it. It was published in 1953, but it took a while to get to that point. Bradbury was originally known for his short stories (he started writing them at age twelve!), and he combined a few of them to put together a twenty-five thousand word piece. That was the first part of Fahrenheit 451, but nobody wanted to publish it unless he doubled the word count. The second half he wrote within nine days, on a rental typewriter in the basement of UCLA. Maybe that's why I think the story is so well-written. It feels super real, even though it's a fictional future world. If you decide to pick it up you'll notice that each sentence is alive. If you don't know it yet, you should really give it a try.
