Today was P's second day off which we celebrated in the afternoon by meeting Julia and Jiyun at Westminster. We met them yesterday, too, and checked out Soho and Chinatown. It's amazing how you turn just one corner and come out on Oxford Circus. It's all connected and once you get a feel for the streets and the directions, there's basically no need to take the tube in the inner city.
We met them and crossed the bridge for a picknic brunch under the London Eye. P and I had rented bikes to cycle there which took us less than thirty minutes. The girls on the other hand showed up late, but they made up for it by treating us to three huge bags of food. There was salad and sandwiches, chips and chocolate, we ate apples and oranges, had wine and beers. It was more than we could manage.
For dinner Tehs, P and I had pasta and salad goodness to the top and spent the rest of the night in front of the television box, even though TVs these days just aren't boxy anymore. It showed a game where the contestants get a million pounds and take home whatever they have left after answering eight questions. One of the questions was: Who, out of Latoya, Janet and Michael, is the youngest Jackson? Seriously.
At night I had to finish a translation of a part of an essay on Nietzsche's way of making life better by becoming a superb human being. He questions moral and ethics, criticizes religion and traditional ways of thinking, and suggests to come up with an own system of personal values. And I think I like that. I mean, you don't have to be punk about everything in life, but it's definitely something to think about.
