After getting home in the morning yesterday I spent most of the day
in bed. The afternoon was spent in a coffee shop and in the evening I
visited my relatives. It was a pretty much quiet day and late at
night it started raining. I slept early and woke up at a normal time
today. For lunch I met an old friend at Ehdae. We picked a nice place
for lunch and chatted over Jeyukboggum and steamy white rice.
Somehow we ended up discussing the current situation of students in
the Korean society.
In the afternoon I met Seungwook, Kwang hyung and Seok hyung at Cult. After a while a few other skaters arrived and a full fun session was going on. This is pretty much the best part about being in Korea. I might have mentioned this before, but skating at that wonderful spot in Dongdaemun fills me with peace and joy. It's a spot where many lines have been filmed and many skaters have solidified their names. It's a spot with a history and I feel blessed to be even just a little part of it.
In the evening it started raining. Just a little at first, that's when we took off and moved to a Family Mart across the street, and then it came down hard. It was so much rain that we changed our plans for our post-skatesession snack. We wanted to go to Daehakno and get some chicken and beer. But due to the crazy rain, we ordered the chicken and got some beers in the convenient store. It was a great group of friends and we chatted into the night, while the rest of the world was getting wet.
After a few hours it stopped again and we decided to go to a karaoke place. It was Seok hyung, Kwang hyung and his gf Mai Song, then Seungwook and another friend calld Nayoung whom I had met for the first time. The theme was definitely Korean classics and I had trouble finding appropriate songs to sing. I chose a few ordinary pop songs and let the others take care of the good mood. I think there were some really good songs in the 80's and 90's that I missed out on. For the next time I'll do my research beforehand.
