Background Music

The 4 Non Blondes are asking me what's going on and I don't know what to say. The lady with the tray in her hands balances a clean, round mug over to my table. The cinnamon powder on top of the milky foam is spread uneven and I wonder why. Another costumer sits four tables to my left. His earphones are plugged in and he's making sounds that he thinks nobody can hear.

I look out the window while the Bee Gees tell me about their holiday. Reminiscing about my last vacation I smile into the sun. The next trip will be soon and I wonder what it will bring. Until then I'll move around the city I learned to love. After finishing a translation this morning I rushed to a photo shoot that was running late. I checked out the studio and I wish it were mine.

A young Joe Cocker sings to his girl. He's telling her, you are so beautiful. I think about mine and agree. A tiny cloud moves before the sun and I wake up. I find myself in a foreign place. A turn of events left me with time on my hands. I found a café and ordered a cappuccino. When was the last time I took out this notepad, the last time I wrote something with a pen? I try to remember.
