Tuesday Practice

Take a deep breath. Cold air is filling your lungs, you can feel them expanding. Now exhale and follow the little could of density appear in front of your eyes. It slowly dissolves and your visual focus readjusts itself. You see shivering trees and frozen buildings. Blankets of snow are covering the ground, leaving just enough room to draw some lines.

Nobody else is here and I enjoy the quiet. In the summer this place is highly populated by skaters. I love the sounds they produce with their boards, the grinding and sliding, the popping and scooping, but every now and then I need to be surrounded by silence. And to find silence in the midst of a usually noisy place makes it magnificent.

The winters here are harsh. I think winters in general are difficult for me to handle. So many possibilities to find happiness are eliminated by the cold. And yet my addiction brought me out here. I stretch my wintry joints and warm up with a couple of pushes. I take a deep breath and follow the cloud that appears and disappears in the sky.
