December. Winter. Cold. Christmas. Family. Once again it's the end of the year and I spend the holidays far away from home. Last year, when I was in London, I took a flight to Germany to see my folks for a few days. Christmas is kind of a big deal in our family. Not so much for the festivities or the religious background, but more so because it's one of those rare occasions when all four of us gather together.
This year I'm tucked away in a little apartment nine thousand kilometers away. In the evening I call home to wish everyone a merry christmas and spend the rest of the night with an empty document open on my computer screen. Sometimes there are so many useless thoughts swirling around my head that I don't see the ones that are worth writing about. Some of them I follow, but in the end they don't lead anywhere.
The year is almost over and I browse through this blog of mine, wondering who else might check it out. It's quite wonderous to me that I've kept up with the daily posts for so long. I mean, I often get preoccupied with other things and struggle with the updates, but somehow I've managed to make it so far, haven't I? We'll see how things go on from here. It's almost been two years and I have no plans on stopping anytime soon.
