Depressing Bottom Line

The world's last typewriter factory in India closed its doors in April 2011. I read the article over breakfast today and I couldn't believe it. Why would it close? I thought. People need typewriters, don't they? Also, I had always thought they were made in some old village in England or Germany. Well, I guess I was wrong. I finished my bowl of cereals and prepared for my day.

Christmas is just over and it already seems long forgotten. The world has picked up its usual pace and it looks like it never happened. Funny how that goes. Anyway, I had to run a depressing errand today, a visit to the bank. On my way out I stopped at one of the machines and updated my bank booklet. I looked at the print and saw the bottom line. That's what made it depressing.

Other than that it was actually a nice day. It's still winter and freezingly cold, but there was something very peaceful in the air this afternoon. On days like this I really like the city. I don't know, there's something magical about Seoul, very different to Bonn or London. I wish I had more cities to compare, but that's the only ones I've lived in so far. Perhaps I make it to New Delhi one day.
