Starting the month with a trip down south sounded too good to be true. For the second issue of Unsung Magazine we needed content from Busan. We called up a few kids who joined us skate, as well as Chacha whom I haven't seen since London. A few days ago we bought the tickets and the deal was sealed. Our crew was tight and I was looking forward to get on the train.
After last night's lauch party at Venue none of us got much rest. So many friends dropped by to share high-fives and steep drinks. It got late and Patrick, whose crib is too far away for a sensible return, crashed at my place. At seven in the morning he came crawling out of the guest room. We got ready, packed a few things and left for the station, a five-minute walk.
Quentin was already there when we walked in. Later he told us that he had been waiting for almost an hour, because he messed up the time on his alarm clock. He realized the mistake when it was already too late to make it unhappen. Brian joined us a minute later and he was hyped as always. The only one missing was Nak, our most valuable player. A quick call confirmed a timely departure.
Nearly three hours later we arrived at Busan Station. Hyun-ho joined us for an early lunch and we discussed our trip over cheese donkassu. We considered renting a car, but the costs were just too high. We really needed one, most importantly for Nak's equipment, but the figures just didn't add up. Biting the bullet we had to take two cabs to get to our first stop, the Sajik Sports Complex.
Many years of skateboarding action have taken place at the spot that is considered the landmark of Busan's skate scene. It was a mandatory duty for us to cover it, even though we make clear that it shouldn't be the focus of the trip. Luckily we got a couple of good shots and moved on to another spot nearby where Hyun-ho threw himself down a big four with a hardflip. Amazing kid.

When was the last time you jumped down a set of stairs thirty times? Yeah, me neither. We stopped the young gun when his legs started shaking as he climbed back up for yet another try. He gave in and we moved on to the baseball stadium. Hyo-bin tried a five-oh shove on a streight ledge down three but failed. Sudden rain limited us on our premises and we soon packed up and left for dinner.
