These days I spend a lot of time at home. The arctic weather conditions outside make me shiver every time I look out the window. Only few lost souls are outside, mostly delivery people struggling to maneuver their scooters up and down the icy hills. I close the milky glass slides and sit back in my chair. The gas pipes running underneath the floors make the decision to go out even harder.
It takes something like a message from an old friend, saying that she's in Korea for a few days, to make me move my feet. Carolyn from LA is in town with a friend from school. They're touring through a couple of Asian metropolises and made a short stop in Seoul. She said she was leaving soon, but she wanted to have a last dinner with a couple of friends. Sure I wanted to come, and so I went.
We met in Itaewon, it was Carolyn, her boyfriend Kevin, and her travel buddy from Hong Kong. We had slightly overpriced bbq and went for drinks at Mixture afterwards. Two other friends of hers joined and we chatted over beers and cocktails. It was nice to be out, and it was great to see an old friend again after almost two years. It's crazy how occasions like that remind you of how fast time passes by.
