Nine o'clock on an ordinary Tuesday morning. The rooftop of a four-storey building in Sinsa-dong, Seoul. A delightful autumn breeze delivers the sound of honking cars and roaring engines, letting me know that rush hour traffic is still in full gear. When was the last time you lay in the grass, just staring into the sky? It's amazing. The first blue there ever was.
Twice a week we do yoga on the fake-grassed roof of our building. Yoga mat, yoga tunes, yoga movements, the whole package. One of the exercises is supposed to help you find your balance. Root your right foot on the ground, feel the energy, angle your left leg and become a one-legged tree. Extend your branches and reach for the sun. Now breathe. Like a tree.
It's actually a fun exercise. And for some reason it reminds me of my childhood. Of course, back then I didn't care about office workers looking at me from their tall company buildings. However, I had some trouble holding my balance and got caught struggling by the instructor. You know why your body is unstable, she says. It's because your mind is indecisive about something.
