Writing on a paper requires a lot of research and reading. One of the books I'm using a lot is this one here by Werner Koller. It's actually quite interesting. He talks about translation as a discipline, cultural and linguistic differences, and equivalence on several levels. If you're interested in translation and want to learn about various theories and viewpoints, then this is definitely worth a read.
