Blues for Mister Charlie

This book was another find at Skoob in London. I like to think back to those carefree days of strolling through the Bloomsbury area after school. This one is a pretty old book, it was written and published in 1964. It is James Baldwin's second play, which he wrote at age forty. All his works, novels, essays and plays, deal with religion, racism and other social conflicts. At times I found it hard to follow, because the stage descriptions were the only information to paint a mental picture of the plot. The dialogues are, of course, the main focal point, but here and there I had trouble keeping my concentration alive. Still I think it was worth the read, because the language and tone of the speakers was interesting to follow.
