"Yo, what are you up to today? Let's go check out some places!" That's what a good friend will say on the phone when he knows that you're looking for an apartment. "Sounds good," I said, "let's meet up at the shop." Phil's Timber Shop is the finest skateshop in Seoul, right in the heart of the city. It's run by skaters and it holds only true brands that think alike.
I got to Myeongdong around lunch time. Phil let me know they were at a soba restaurant close to the stage gap. I found the place and said hello to Yangsoo, Ryan and his wife, and his sister who came to visit. Phil and Hanna got up and we said our see-you-laters. Then a quick stop at his crib and off we went to Jongno. That's where the tour began.
Jongno, Euljiro, Dongdaemun. Insadong, Seoul Station, Jongak. City Hall, Chungjeongro, Ahyeon. We didn't manage to cover all those areas, but we saw some great houses. It ultimately comes down to the rent, of course, how much you have and how much you are willing to pay. But finding the right place is never easy, because there's always something missing.
