Finally There

I woke up to a strangely familiar sound, something that I was used to hear frequently, but a long time ago. I looked at the display on my phone and the digits told me it was four minutes past six. It was early morning and I was still sleepy, I could feel my body's yearning for more rest. But, curiosity got the best of me and I got up. I stumbled to the window and opened the distorting shades.

It was raining like London. A super strong shower, millions of heavy rain drops bombarding hundreds of rooftops, producing a percussion solo that any rock festival would pay a fortune for. I closed my eyes and smiled at the thought of Camden Street near Mornington Crescent Station. Koko around the corner, Sainsbury's double chocolate cookies, MB Chicken and Pizza, Leyas coffee shop.

I felt uplifted by the rain, by the things that I saw when I looked out the window. It's a different window in a different apartment, a different city in a different country. Everything is changed, and perhaps I have changed too. I probably have. Development is growth, more often than not. Everything is different, everything but the rain. At six in the morning I finally feel at home.
