Facts about Herman Melville: He was born nearly two hundred years ago, in 1819. He lived in New York City. He became involved with the sailing business at age thirty. He sailed the pacific ocean and wrote Moby Dick. He lived amongst cannibals and wrote Typee. He was jailed in Tahiti and wrote Omoo. Moby Dick, or The Whale, sold only three thousand copies during Melville's lifetime, he wasn't recognised as a great writer.
When I got this book, a few months ago at Skoob, I honestly didn't know who Melville was. I saw the name but had no idea. I haven't reat Moby Dick, but I know that it's quite a story. Now, I always thought that he only wrote stories about crazy sailing adventures, which is why this novella was a big surprise to me. It's about a New York lawyer who tells the story about his most extraordinary clerk. Great writing, amazing language. Give it a try.
