1Q84 - Book One

A few weeks ago Dahomes and I went to Skoob to dig for some new old goodness. And there they had it, Books One and Two in one volume, and Book Three in another. They sold the set for seventeen pounds. I checked the condition and it was crisp, almost as good as new. I liked the thought of possessing them and started weighing the idea in my head.

After we made our usual round I decided to buy them. It was a good deal, and sooner or later I would have gotten them anyway. I took them home and was glad that I had them. I know people who have read the first volume within two days. I find it amazing how people can do that. It took me long enough to finish the first book, and I won't rush to get through the second.

Book One introduces the main characters and their journeys and it's really fun to follow them. The story is quite gripping and I really enjoy the voices. Coherence is of great importance, so you have to pay attention at all times. I like the detailed descriptions and the extra portion of knowledge about, for example, a piece of classical music. Let's find out how it goes on.
