Sometimes I think, sometimes I don't. I've read that somewhere the other day and it made me think. Why? Because I think there is some truth in it. Thinking in general, I reckon, is a pretty much natural thing to do. Perhaps as natural as breathing or eating. Every person has thoughts, but I wonder how many people really listen to them. Everybody has dreams, but how many people remember them?
Some of them thoughts swing by, say hello and leave again, like a brief visitor. You let him in, offer him a seat and serve some coffee. You listen to the traveller's stories, you talk about things that come to mind, things that may or may not be of particular weight. After a while you feel like you've heard enough, said what you had to say. That's when you get up and shake hands, open the door and say good-bye.
But not every thought is like that. As mentioned before, I think that there are also thoughts of a very different nature. The sort that comes and occupies the mind. Visitors who walk through the door to your place and start unpacking. You offer them a seat and they take the bed. You serve them coffee and they demand cookies too. I mean, it's nice to have them, but sometimes they feel like a burden.
