My journey to the Phillippines began with a haircut. After tidying up my apartment - laundry, dishes, shoes and clothes - I had two more errands left on my list. One of them was going to the bank and, I honestly don't know how getting my hair cut ended up on my prep list, too. It's one of those things that can be done kind of whenever, which is always why it never happens.
However, it was on the list now and I wanted to take care of it. So I calculated the time and the options that were left and decided to visit the closest barber shop I knew. Mimi's Hair Salon is near my place and almost on the way to the train station. I got half my hair cut and then I didn't trust her any more. I said thank you, payed the bill, and left with a smile. I didn't mind.
I took a train to Gasan and looked up a branch of my bank. I exchanged some money and let out a sigh of lelief as I walked out. I was done with my list. It was only four o'clock, but it felt like a long day already. I picked up my bag and walked around to find a spot where I could meet up with my companion. Across the street I found a nice coffee shop to escape the cold.
After half an hour the door opened and Sumin walked in. I saw her smile and that's when this trip became a vacation. We took the limousine bus to the airport and got there with plenty of time left. We talked the whole ride, joked around and made plans. At the package deal counter we received a plastic envelope with two round travel tags with our names written on them.
After check-in we went up to the second floor and had dinner. While waiting for our orders to arrive we looked out the window and saw travellers rushing from side to side. There's something very urgent in the atmosphere at airports. People are leaving and waving good-bye, perhaps forever. Others are arriving and hugging hello. And it all happens at the same time.
