September Here We Go

So, September. For me that means that most of this year's summer is gone and fall is right around the corner. That's how things go. The sun comes up every morning, spring is followed by summer, and summer is followed by fall. Time is an unforgiving constant, once it's passed it's gone for good. The question is, what do you do with it? What did you do with the first eight months of this year? What did you do today?

Well, as for me, I checked emails in the morning, which, from what I heard on Simon's car radio a few days ago, is not the best way to start your day, because it consumes a lot of energy. Good energy that is too valuable to get in the way of an efficient approach to a fresh set of twenty-four hours. According to the lady voice on the radio you should do important stuff right after you get up, just to get it out of the way. Then you can check your emails.

I had an ordinary lunch with two cups of coffee. Not really satisfying, but easy enough to not bother for anything else and light enough to look forward to dinner. I spent most of my midday hours downstairs working. People often think that I don't work or do anything that comes close to work, but I do. I really do. I do this and I do that, and some of the work that I do I don't even get paid for. Shocking, isn't it?

The whole afternoon I spent sitting at my desk looking for places to rent online. It's a funny thing. Looking for a place to stay in a different country, I mean. You have to rely on the things that people write, like descriptions, directions and so on. And after a while you ask yourself, what's the freaking point? If I'm not there to even call them up to arrange a viewing, how am I ever going to find a decent place? How?

Exactly. And that's when my phone rang. Tobs called me up and told me that he and Simon were around the corner, hungry, and just about to decide where to go to have dinner. I told him I was in, but I didn't know a good place, either. That's a topic that always comes up with us. There's not too much of a choice, and more often than not we end up disappointed, but it doesn't matter. It's eating out with the guys and that's always fun, whatever it is we're eating.
