Seoul - Day 5

When I woke up today it was past noon already, but considering that I came in when the sun went up I didn't sleep that much, really. I was super tired, but I kind of enjoyed the remnant aches of yesterday's many hours. I had trouble moving my body, but fortunately there was no nausea or migraine. It wasn't as satisfying as the pain that you feel after skating hard all day, but I didn't mind it either. It was just difficult to get started today. First thing was to get some coffee.

It was a friendly day outside, sunny and only a bit too humid. In the afternoon I met my friend Yoon in Gwanghwamun, close to City Hall. I haven't seen her in three or four years, the last time was in London, and I was glad to meet her again in Seoul. We went to Mama's Café and had wonderful coffee and a fantastic honey camembert panini thing. It was great to see her and catch up, share some stories together. We talked a lot about future and life in different places. A lot to think about.

In the evening I had Japanese Ramen in Hongdae. It was a nice shop and the food was tasty, too. And in one of the corners, hidden between a tall fridge and the bar, I saw something very sad. A young woman around thirty was eating by herself while reading manga comics and drinking soju. I mean, eating alone is fine, I do it all the time. Reading mangas, well, to each his own. But on top of that, shooting soju by yourself, giggling to a comic book? Sadness.
