Today was a sunny day, or at least a day without rain. And that means it was a day with skateboarding. Somehow, in Germany I don't feel that free on my board. I'm not sure why that is, but it's definitely different. For some reason I think I feel heavier on my board; the turns feel different, although I'm using the same trucks; the pop is not the same, even with the same deck. But here, today, it was a super mellow session with the usual suspects at the usual spot, which is enough to know that we had a great time.
For dinner we had Bibimbab at a place I've never been to before. It was good though, and the Gochujang was great. Maybe I should eat Bibimbab more often. It's not that hard to make, I think, you just need the right key ingredience. I should try that back at home. After that we took a little trip to Jongno to skate some more. Night sessions are generally fun, because there's less cars in the streets, but getting tricks comes hard for me. Gunhoo got a quick transfer tailslide, no idea how he does that.
No, I definitely like the sideshow better than getting them tricks. I mean, if it's a well-lit spot, I'm sure down to skate hard, but if not I gain more joy from pushing to the next spot, riding the streets, ollieing up the sidewalk, powersliding the tiles, hopping over the cracks. And when it's as hot and humid as it is here right now, part of the session is a cold can of beer on the run to cool down and recharge the power bar. I was never much of a beer person, but popping a cold can after a good skate session is priceless.
