In the morning someone switched on the TV and I woke up. Most people must have left at an earlier hour, because when I scanned the room it added up to Seungwook, Seok hyung, 109 hyung and Kwang hyung. After we cleaned up the place a little we left and walked into the new day. First we walked through the neighborhood and passed some old bookstores and laundry shops. There were only few people out and I enjoyed the greyness and the old vibe of the streets.
The walking made us hungry, but we made one last stop before we went to get breakfast. We walked on and somehow got out at Gyeongbokgung Palast. Why not check it out, we thought, and looked around a little. It's hard to believe that people actually lived in there a few hundred years ago. After that we crossed one two streets, took another right, then a left and ended up in a business part of Jongno. It's crazy, it was like walking through three different centuries.
For lunch we got some famous Budaejjigae and it was the most delicious meal I've had in the last couple of days. Plus, I think I was really hungry. After that we went to get some coffee. I got a plain black one and it was pure goodness. It felt like a necessity. We got a good spot with super comfy seats and Kwang hyung took a nap while the rest of us discussed the condition of Korea's skateboarding community. With all the internet action these days the scene needs some serious offline support.
Seungwook was working on his computer when he suddenly said someone wanted to say hi to me. So I moved over and saw Carolyn on the screen. Old Carolyn from LA, she's a mutual friend and currently back in the States. She used to study in London and we talked about life over there. We hadn't seen each other in almost two years and we always seem to be in different countries at the same time. Amazing technology. Soon after that we decided to call it a day and I almost fell asleep on the bus ride home.
